Though Sally J. Walker has published novels in a variety of fiction genres, poetry, and stageplays, as well as being on the staff of MOVIESCOPE Magazine, the primary focus of her creative life is her screenwriting.

She told a newspaper columnist, "Screenwriting has everything: the depth of a novel, the immediacy of a short story, the intense imagery of poetry, and the compact, multi-layered dialogue of

stageplays. Plus, it has to be written to stimulate the collaborate genius of so many others. Wow! What a challenge!"

She wrote her first teleplay at age 16 under the tutelage of N.B. Stone, Jr., writer of several TV westerns (including the BONANZA episode "Bank Run" directed by Robert Altman) and the classic movie "Ride the High Country" (directed by legendary Sam Peckinpah). After getting her BFA in Writing in 1985, Joe Wallenstein (KNOTT'S LANDING producer, now USC professor) began mentoring her efforts in 1989. In 1997 Lew Hunter (former chair of the UCLA Film Department) took over her coaching. She had written 8 screenplays at that point and her 20th by 2005, including a quarterfinalist in the 1998 Nicholl. She is currently represented by a well-respected Hollywood Agent-Manager.  (More at members.cox.net/sallyjwalker )
